Studio Policy

ATTENDANCE:

Consistent attendance is very important to learning to play the piano.

Students are expected to arrive on time. Minutes late are minutes lost – lessons will conclude on time no matter when the student arrives.

Absences may only be made up under the following circumstances:
• A planned or expected absence may be rescheduled or made up only when notice is given at least 2 weeks prior to the lesson that will be missed.
• An absence due to illness may be rescheduled or made up only when notice is given at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled lesson.
• An absence due to actual emergency may be rescheduled or made up when notice is received as soon as possible.
Absences will not be made up for reasons such as and including: forgot about lesson, lack of preparation, etc.

Making Up Lessons:
• Appropriate absences ought be made up in the same week as the missed lesson. If the lesson cannot be rescheduled within the same week of the missed lesson, the lesson may be made up on special make-up days indicated on the studio calendar.
• Inappropriate absences may be rescheduled or made up at an additional charge of $15.00.

PREPARATION:
• Students are expected to practice at least 5 days each week for a minimum of 30 minutes. A practice log (in the student’s notebook) should be completed each week. Students may be rewarded occasionally for consistent, complete practice logs.
• Parent involvement is crucial. Students tend to excel best when parents take interest, provide encouragement, and help maintain a regular practice schedule. While younger students usually require more assistance from parents, it is important to be involved with older students as well.
• Students are also asked to keep their fingernails trimmed as nails that are too long inhibit correct finger and hand positioning that is crucial to piano play. Ideally, nails should not come past the students fingertips.

FEES & PAYMENT:
• School Year Tuition is $50/month. Tuition covers 32 private 30 minute lessons & 2 hour long group lessons, as well as a Spring Recital. Alternately, a 10 lesson punch card may be purchased for $150. *Summer schedule and tuition TBD.
• Payment for the month is due at the 1st lesson of each month. All payments received after the 1st lesson of the month are to be accompanied by a $10.00 late fee.
• Lesson books and other materials are not included in monthly tuition and are to be paid for by the student.
• Payments may be made in cash or by check made out to Megan Croft.
